2011 NPPL DC Challenge.

Pev’s Paintball home of the NPPL DC Challenge and NPPL All Star Game held nothing back at this year’s event. Mike Peverill and staff spent months preparing for this years event and it paid off. Even as the North East experience and a major Earth Quake, Hurricane and mass flooding Pev’s Paintball was ready.

Pev’s Paintball Park is a state of the art tournament and recreational paintball facility, with six turf fields, player pits with air and chrono stations. Pev’s also has scenario fields and plenty of recreational fields for paintballers to enjoy. Mike Peverill’s (Pev) brother Todd Peverill runs the Pro Shop and Field, which allows Pev to focus on his position as NPPL President and industry, spokes person.

The sponsors arrived Tuesday and Wednesday to find a newly paved parking area for vendors, fresh gravel walkways and a players paddock with newly laid mulch on the ground. There was a huge grandstand set up with a raised VIP behind. Pev also created an All Star VIP where fans could sit on a grandstand under a tent inside the Pro Player paddocks located on the center court 50-yard line. What a treat these VIP spectators received during the All Star Game. They received lunch, drinks, Autographed NPPL T Shirts, hats and an opportunity to go on the field and meet their favorite All Star Players.

This event ran so smoothly, from Registration to Parking the vibe was electric. There was a live band playing on Saturday along with a flag football league competing on fields 3 and 4. Pevapalooza was also going on along side Pro Team signings and live tournament action.  In addition to the 700 tournament players there was over 600 walk on players having fun and watching games.

Vendors and sponsors included Empire, Custom Products, Valken, Draxxas, GI Sports, Understood, KM, HK and Ninja. Eclipse and Virtue were set up inside Pev’s pro shop, which had everything a player could possibly need to play the game.

The NPPL was filming the event and posting all the center court games on the NPPL You Tube channel giving people who were not present the opportunity to watch all the action. Todd Martinez gave the play by play as the teams from pump division to Pro Advance to the finals. This event like others had its share of drama, Dynasty did not make the finals nor Impact or Infamous. With the top teams knocked out early this paved the way for the new blood to attack. In the end Chicago Legend advanced to the Pro finals and match up against local team DC Arsenal. The competition was fierce and in the end the best of three game ended in a draw. Both teams then had to choose a player from their roster to square off in a one on one to determine who would be champion. DC Arsenal choose Justin Rabackoff and Chicago Legend choose Damian Ryan. The day before both these players were playing together on the East Coast All Star team. Now they were battling each other to determine who would take home the DC Challenge trophy and $5000.00 cash prize.  They both started off slow and stay back neither advancing on one another. Then Damian made a move Justin seemed to have lost sight of him. Them J Rab moved and Damian lost him. The match went on for what seems an eternity until Damian advanced eliminating Justin in an aggressive gun battle.
